BCLUW

Check out these softball teams.

These three teams collected state championships last week at the Rogers Sports Complex in Fort Dodge.  There were plenty of stories about all three squads throughout the tournament.

JOHNSTON had the "Family Affair" along with the fact that they played their hearts out all tournament long and overcame some pretty big odds to win the Class 4A State Title.  They weren't necessarily the "Cinderella" so to speak, but they weren't the favorite entering the tournament as well.  The interesting situation with the Dragons is that they are so young, returning a majority of their starting lineup next year.

BCL-UW was making just their SECOND state tournament appearance since they merged into one school, but it didn't show.  The Comets played near-perfect defense all tournament long and came home with the 2A crown.  Comets Head Coach Dave Lee finished his 34th year as head coach with a state title.

EARLHAM took their freshman pitcher (Amber Logeman) all the way to the Class 1A state championship.  Newell-Fonda was a very good team and this championship game was possibly the best one on Friday.  Earlham, unranked, took a similar road that Johnston took to win their state crown (Freshman Pitcher, Overlooked team) and capitalized on Newell-Fonda's mistakes in the State Championship game.

These teams all had fantastic performances on Friday to win their respective Class state championship.  They are this week's KCCI's "Team(s) Of The Week."
