There was a battle for the starting quarterback position at Dowling Catholic. Until Michael Hudson broke loose against rival West Des Moines Valley.
Hudson, a senior quarterback, scored on a 53-yard run on just the second play from scrimmage for the Maroons on his way to a HUGE day. Hudson had just 13 carries, but made the most of each touch, turning those 13 carries into 137 yards and a touchdown.
The senior also had a big day throwing the ball as well, Hudson was just about perfect on the night going 6-9 for 131 yards and 3 touchdowns (0 interceptions).
Hudson found his favorite target, Drew Zaun, three times for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns. With his stellar play, Hudson passed and ran his way all over the Valley Tiger defense for a 44-14 win.
