Blue Jays Vs. Rams Baseball Playoffs

July 15, 2008

The Jefferson-Scranton Rams and the Perry Blue Jays match-up during the first round of the playoffs. In the first inning the Blue Jays were able to score a run and not allow the Rams to do the same. The second inning left both sides without any men on base and without any runs. In the third inning the Blue Jays were able to score yet another run, but the Rams were able to load up the bases, and a nice hit my Ram senior Eric Carlson allowed the Rams their first two runs of the game and a two RBI single for Carlson. Another run was scored by Ram sophomore Quinn Marquardt off of a passed ball that allowed him to steal home plate. The inning ended with a score of 4-2, Rams. In the fourth inning the Rams were capable of scoring five runs. Senior Cody Renwanz was able to send Junior Jake Weiss through home plate. After a few more good hits and some walks the bases were able to be loaded yet again. But on a passed ball Cody R. was able to steal home plate, the score now 6-2. The Blue Jays now switching pitchers, which didn't seem to help them because Carlson was able to hit a stand up triple that sent two more Ram ball players home to score. Then Rams Junior Travis Tenaple was able to get a single and easily send Carlson home. The Rams left the inning with a score of 9-2, Rams. In the fifth inning Ram Junior Eric Swain gets away with another RBI double for the Rams. The Blue Jays still battling the J-S Rams pitching squad. The Blue Jays are able to score only one run off of a hard hit by Blue Jay Junior, Austin Dearborne. There were no hits, no runs, no errors for either side during the sixth inning of the game. The pressure was on the Blue Jays during the bottom of the seventh inning after the Rams were unable to score any more runs. The Blue Jays were able to work the bases due to their obvious speed, making use of two passed balls that allowed them to tally up two more runs, but the Blue Jays were unable to come back from the huge deficit that they had been left with going into the seventh inning of the ball game. The final score of the game was, Jefferson-Scranton 11, Perry 4.
